Iceland and back - Brian Nobbs
Iceland is where a number of special birds breed, many migrating through the UK en route, and some of these routes will be explored. It is also the only country in the Western Palearctic where you can find two American ducks - Harlequin and Barrow's Goldeneye.
The talk will look at a wide range of Icelandic birds and also the spectacular geology which forms the backdrop to their breeding.

Ecology of re-wilding - Matthew Phelps
The talk will cover the history of the rewilding efforts at Knepp - how the arable and dairy farming operations were transformed into a wild landscape, shaped by the actions of large herbivores including Red and Fallow Deer, Longhorn cattle and Tamworth Pigs. I’ll also explain some of the many wildlife successes that have occurred as a result of the 20 years of the project so far, and also some of the other smaller projects that are taking place alongside the main rewilding efforts.
